Cumulus

These wines are meticulously hand-crafted using whole bunch pressing, natural yeast barrel fermentation and matured in a combination of French and American oak.

Interestingly Block 15, where we grow the Cumulus Chardonnay, is frequently struck by lightning, far more so than any other hill in the area. We think it's attracted by large mineral deposits in the basalt, which would account for the intriguing minerality in the wine.

Cumulus Chardonnay

An elegant, tightly structured wine with complex flavours of grapefruit, quince and biscuit. Wild and cultured yeast fermentation gives it added complexity and minerality. Matured in French & Hungarian oak barriques for 12 months prior to release. Tasting Notes: 2011 2010 2009 2008

Cumulus Shiraz

Offers rich and intense fruit flavours of dark cherries, licquorice and spice with a refined cool-climate Shiraz backbone. Winery handling includes small vat fermentation over 10 days with twice daily pumping-over, racking and maturation in a mix of American, European and French oak barriques for 12 months.
