The Berardo family
Cumulus Wines is majority owned by the Berardo family of Portugal.
Jose Berardo and his son, Renato, own a number of Portugal’s prestigious wine estates. These include Bacalhôa, with a restored 15th century royal hunting lodge, and Leridos, the grounds of which contain the remarkable Buddha Gardens. They also operate a joint venture wine group with Baron Eric de Rothschild of Château Lafite fame.
Equal to his involvement in the wine industry, Jose Berardo is Portugal’s largest art collector. He owns over 4,000 artworks ranging including works by Picasso, Warhol, Dali, Pollock, and Koons. These artworks are on display in his galleries and wineries but his largest collection can be seen at the Berardo Museum attached to the National Gallery in Lisbon.
The Berardo's passion for wine and global exchange of winemaking techniques has seen Cumulus move from strength to strength in recent years.
