Climbing Wines

Climbing wines are sourced predominantly from the Orange region of our vineyard above 600m. The vines are low yielding so as to provide fruit of intense yet elegant flavour. The unique name is an active reference to the higher elevation vines from which the fruit is sourced and our continual quest for excellence. The label imagery evokes the adventurous character of the region dominated by the challenging peaks of the nearby extinct volcano, Mount Canobolas.

Climbing Sauvignon Blanc
A beautifully fragrant wine with lovely passionfruit and lime zest aromas. The palate has a crisp juiciness, balanced by a dry finish.

Climbing Pinot Gris
Offers a golden bronze hue from skins contact during fermentation. Notes of honey, pear and orange peel lift from the glass. A lively, full-bodied wine with delicious texture and length.

Climbing Chardonnay
Optimal flavour ripeness provides the foundation for a clean, elegant wine with great fruit intensity. Dry and crisp with an attractive mineral tang and subtle French oak complexity.

Climbing Merlot
The wine shows real intensity of ripe plums highlighted by a touch of cool-climate leafiness. Time in barrel adds complexity to this cool-climate, elegantly structured red.

Climbing Shiraz
The high-altitude is shown to great effect in our Shiraz. Rich cherry, blackberry and white pepper overlays a supple palate. Subtle use of oak adds fine, soft tannins to this well-structured wine.

Climbing Cabernet Sauvignon
Dark, ripe, berry fruits are balanced by cool-climate leafiness. 12 months maturation in French and American oak brings dark chocolate notes to the fore whilst fine, firm tannins give the palate great length.
